Delphian School Student Honored by the Statesman Journal
Salem's Statesman Journal newspaper held its annual Academic All-Stars celebration
dinner on January 31st at Chemeketa Community College's Northwest Viticulture Center
in Salem. Each area high school was invited to select one senior for the honor,
based on academic achievement as well as contribution to the community. Christopher
Kevorkian of the Delphian School was chosen as one of thirty-three seniors honored
at the dinner.
Christopher is from Boston, Massachusetts, and is in his third year at the Delphian
School. He plans a career in computer engineering and has applied for admission
to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University, Worchester Polytechnic
Institute and Northeastern University. Among many extracurricular activities, Christopher
spent two weeks full time tutoring 8th grade students in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
earlier this school year. He is a member of the Delphian School's chess team and
tied for second place in the state high school chess tournament last year.
