Linfield College Small School Choir Festival
On Wednesday, Feb. 21st the Varsity Choir participated in the 1st Linfield College
Small School Choir Festival.
This festival was created by Delphi Music Director, Craig Bader, in coordination
with Linfield College to fill a need for a choir festival at the small school level
for schools in this area. Ten schools participated and Delphi students ran the festival
including registration, monitoring the entrance and exit of students, getting choirs
from the warm-up room to the auditorium, etc. Craig acted as emcee.
Each choir sang its songs for the students in attendance and 3 professional choir
adjudicators, one of whom did an on-stage clinic with each choir after its performance.
Choirs received written comments and a numerical rating. Choirs meeting a certain
high standard qualified for the Choir Championships that are held in May.
The Delphian choir sang a varied repertoire of songs including a piece from the
Renaissance, a contemporary piece, a spiritual and songs from the masters, Bach
and Brahms. The judges enjoyed the choir's performance, and it qualified for the
State Championships for the 12th consecutive year.
