The Delphian School Choirs Spread the Holiday Cheer with Music
On Wednesday, December 6th, thirteen students from the Varsity Choir sang Christmas
carols for the residents of Deer Meadow, an assisted living community in Sheridan.
The residents liked it very much and also enjoyed talking to the students after
the performance.
On Friday, December 8th, the Middle School Choir went to McMinnville to sing Holiday
music at the headquarters of Oregon Mutual Insurance Co. The students sang in the
lunch room for fifteen minutes while the employees ate lunch and got an enthusiastic
response. Then they went all around the 3-story office complex and sang to workers
throughout the building. This was much appreciated. Their guide gave the choir some
delicious Christmas cookies and presented them with a $75.00 donation to the music
department for the performances.
On December 9th, seventeen members of the Varsity Choir went to downtown McMinnville
to stroll 3rd Street singing holiday music as part of McMinnville's Downtown Holiday
Celebration. Passers-by enjoyed the music and someone videoing the choir said that
the music would be heard in Rhode Island, where they were from. Patti Webb, the
coordinator of the event from the McMinnville Downtown Association, went up to Craig
Bader, the Choir Director, while the choir was performing and told him how much
she loved the group and how they added to the festivities. A high point of the caroling
hour (besides going to Starbucks on the way back) was being requested to come into
the Union Block Coffee Shop to sing to the patrons, who were very enthusiastic and
often sang along.
