Chess Master Visits Delphian School Chess Club
On May 8th, a chess master visited the Chess Club's weekly meeting. He first gave
a short lecture on strategy, and then he played a simultaneous match against 20
students. This means he played 20 different games against 20 of the students at
the same time. At the conclusion of each game, he shook the player's hand and validated
the player's good points. He also gave a bit of advice on strengthening any weak
points he had noticed.
The master was quite impressed with the Chess Club, saying he'd had to really work
hard on many of the games. He had been a little reluctant to come, but after the
match he indicated he would love to do it again any time.
The Chess Club really enjoyed playing someone of his caliber, and each member learned
something of value for the future.
