Curriculum
Practical
There are practical requirements for students throughout their academic studies,
providing each student with important real-life experience in conducting experiments,
making useful products, participating in activities that further enhance his or
her understanding of the subjects taught or learning a new skill. The practical
area consists of both projects and skill development.
Students will complete over four hundred hours of practical credit by the time they
finish the Middle School. The requirements are fairly broad, but could include activities
such as run a simple business, participate in a community service project, cross
plants to get a hybrid, write a computer program, write a short play or build a
dome. Field trips as well as campus apprenticeships provide some of the framework
for these activities. Under certain circumstances, some Middle School students can
arrange for off-campus apprenticeships.
